Tyler Surfboards: FUNctional Art
As part of our rebranding effort three years ago, we also remodeled the Wanderlust Realty office. We set out with three main goals for the new office, it had to be a comfortable work space that encouraged inter department communication, it needed to be inviting for friends and clients and it had to be a reflection of the Wanderlust brand values. We tapped Anna Sittko, owner of Sea Gambler Design Studio, to help us bring our vision to life. We layered in Nosara made custom furniture, local photography and a few mid-century chairs in our waiting area, but we were on the lookout for a focal point to bring it all together.
The choice of where to make this purchase was simple. Our favorite boutique surf and coffee shop Olo Alaia Surf & Brew, is located just around the corner. With the helpful guidance of owner and friend, Robbie Vickers, Brandon was seduced by a beautiful teal Tyler Triple 7 longboard.
Tyler Surfboards is an El Segundo, California based boutique surf shop whose store has been described as “an art gallery for surfers all over the world”. With over 30 years of experience, owner Tyler Hatzikian still hand shapes and glasses each board with precision and care. The Tyler brand is iconic for their longboards inspired by the classic longboards of the ’60’s. In an interview with Swellmagnet.com, Tyler shared that he only builds 5 boards a week so that he can spend time with each customer talking design and provide the truly exceptional quality of work that the brand has become known for.
As beautiful as the board is, these boards are meant to be ridden, so Brandon did just that and we got it all on film. Join along as Brandon, Robbie and Roberto Riccio enjoy a playful morning on a trio of Tyler Surboards at Playa Guiones.
