This spacious house is located directly across route 160 from El Local at the main North Guiones beach entrance. Recently renovated, the house is one of a handful of structures in Nosara that offers both walking distance to the surf and a stunning ocean view. With two fully equipped apartments, each with its own kitchen, living & dining space, the structure is ideal for families and their guests, as a rental property, upscale hotel, hostel, B&B or retreat center.

A unique floor plan centers the focus of the house around an internal core, with wrap-around balconies on 3 sides. The top level consist of a sunset lookout perfect for an intimate view of the evening light show.

The possibilities here are endless. Buyers with a vision will easily see that this property offers limitless options for a dream Nosara residence, vacation home, or one of the most centrally located commercial opportunities on the market.

+ Owner’s Story

We discovered Nosara while working for the United States Agency for International Development in Nicaragua. We’d traveled to dozens of countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia while serving in the foreign service. We’d lived for several years in Paraguay, India, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Russia. We’d snorkled, scuba dived, and body surfed at exquisite Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Pacific beaches. After just two visits to Nosara, we knew we’d found a place that combined the best of our previous experiences.

In 1999 we bought a small house on a large lot with an expansive view. While vacationing there a few weeks at a time over the next 15 years, we got to know the wider Nosara community of ticos and expats, which more than reassured us that our decision was a good one. In 2011 we began an extensive renovation that more than doubled our living space and expanded our view of both jungle and beach. Since retiring in 2014 we’ve lived full time in Playa Guiones. Our routine includes daily walks to the beach, frequent exercise classes, and active participation in efforts to preserve the beach and parklands, protect wildlife, and improve economic and social conditions for the local community. Virginia has served on the board of the Nosara Civic Association for three years and writes frequently about local people and events on Facebook. Earle is on the board of TortuGuiones, which works to protect endangered Olive Ridley turtles that nest on our beaches.

As we move on to meet family obligations in the U.S., we’ll continue to delight in Nosara during extended visits. We wish the new owners of the Mono Congo properties as much pleasure as we’ve enjoyed over the last 20 years. Breakfasts with our family of monkeys in the mango trees and toasts to ocean sunsets from our balcony will definitely convey with the property!
